Rear shocks need replacing after 12000km

Was getting a set of air bags fitted by Rob Robson 4by4 and to their dismay my rear shocks were leaking , rang up toyota to see if Rob could fit a new set while he had the car and was told in a round about way that there is no way the shocks are gone .After quite a few words and that I have a lot more faith in Rob than I would ever had in Toyota was told to bring the car into them. Well a day in toyota get a call that my rear shocks are leaking and that they will have to be replaced ,but there are none in Australia and will be approx 15 to 20 working days to get them in . With Xmas and new year that means they should be in by early Feb :evil: :evil: .
Seem hard to believe that it takes a month to get a set of shocks sent from overseas ,and that they do not have any available in Aust on a new run out car :?: :?: :?:
Sounds to me they are having trouble with them and have run out of parts world wide . Suggest you get under your can and have a good look , I missed out on taking a holiday over Xmas break due to towing a camper with family in with leaking shocks no thanks ,yes not happy Jan :evil: :evil: :evil: :evil:

ask Toyota for the cost for the replacement shocks in cash then go and put in a decent set

tried to get them to fit after market due to the fact they had none in stock , but fell on deaf ears :?

Standard is no good with camper trailer anyway, so best to put aftermarket, go on your holiday, [why you wouldnt for the sake of the cost of 2 shocks is beyond me] and smile every time the car rides better over bumps. :mrgreen:

I have had no troubles with the 120 shocks with the camper trailer , so thought the 150 would be the same . As for not going away I think I was dreaming with a 1 month old baby , a bit of venting on my behalf ops: . I only keep my cars for 2 years , so try to fit what I can swap over generally.But do plan a big trip in coming years so will do a proper upgrade on that rig. thanks Digger

I had my Prado on a hoist recently looking for damage from a minor accident and my brother pointed out that my fron shockies were leaking. Raised it at the service the other day (30K) and they have ordered some in and will be replaced in a couple of weeks.

If you have standard shockies, may be worth checking them...
