My 2010 Prado VX with air suspension ( called Kakadu down your way ) is not performing well under bumpy conditions. Going over a speedbump at normal speed , the rear suspension bottoms out on the rubber stops , whether you select any of the three air suspension-settings . I took it to the dealer and they conveyed tests on the KDSS system and found it on standard . As I told the manager , I can not argue with a machine( relating to the KDSS test apparatus ) but I can tell him that the ride is a far cry from my previous experience with my previous vehicle , a Fortuner , fitted with Old Man Emu suspension . The Prado rides lovely on a nice tar road but the moment you leave the tar you have to drive very cautiously or else you as driver and your passenger's bodies will be punished as every unevenness in the road gets directed through you .It is under these conditions that you ride mostly on the rubber bumpstops ( remember it is only me and my wife , no luggage . The only additional weight is the Outback drawer system installed in the back ). I have contacted our importers of Old Man and asked them about the kit for a VX Prado but unfortunately there is nothing available at this stage ( the only kit available is the one for the TX model with the rear coil springs ). On top of this I had a serious dust problem all over the vehicle which has been attended to but could not be tested due to prevailing wet conditions . I would appreciate it if someone can give me advice (maybe there is another kit available ) on the suspension problem or just your comments on this experience.
