I had AT3 in passenger construction, which I was very happy with but wanted an LT construction. I was tossing up between 18" and getting Cooper AT3 in LT 275/65R18 or getting the S/T Maxx in LT 265/70R17. The main reason I went with the S/T is it's more aggressive tread yet still an All-terrain, and with a bit more sidewall.
Both tyres are great with the AT3 being a bit better on road. I had the chance to get my hands on the new FJ cruiser wheels and so I did. The S/T cover me and my appetite for outback touring and weekend 4WDing but I would have been happy too with the AT3 in LT;2010 Kakadu. After spending a week in the Vic High Country I can appreciate the benefit of some extra sidewall although there were a couple of staked tyres amongst the 17 owners. The D697s in the 265/60/R18 really bag out when dropping the pressures, had others thinking the pressures were too low. Might get something else next time, the D697s are looking a bit thrashed after the GTG.Comment

Can anyone tell me on a 2013 Kakadu what rim size and offset I should consider if I want to fit legal (within +-15mm diameter) tyres? Can I fit 17 inch with the KDSS components?
Also would Yokahama Geolander G012 tyres be ok for Sydney to Flinders Ranges, back via Simpson Dessert? I was thinking I may need a flatter side wall.
