Yes, plenty of people here have fitted 265/70/17 tyres.

and if there is any rubbing enough to cause trouble?
No, the problem is not with rubbing.

i have been told by a tyre dealer that they wont fit,
They do fit, but are probably illegal depending on which state you are in.

but i have seen a couple with these on. any help would be appreciated
Consider a 275/65/17 if the 265/70/17 is illegal in your state.
These issues have all been discussed many times before, have a look here for example: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-or-265-65-R17

Also, it's a good idea to say which state you are from because vehicle regulations vary from state to state.

        Hi Tough150

I have MT ATZ 4rib 265/70/17's on my 150GXL and have had them from new and they are fine, they are borderline as to legality, my insurance company is OK with them though.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

thanks Richoson, could you put up a photo of them, or a link would be good, has the speedo and fuel figures gone out by much from 65 to 70?

            Hi Tough150

The speedo was actually corrected when the tyres went on checked against three GPS's it runs at the exact speed they show. I have a 2"lift, ARB deluxe bar, dual batteries, roof racks, snorkel and they all effect the consumption, in general with all these I would say it has gone up by about 1.5 - 2 lts /100ks.

My car is in the trip reports for the Qld Ormeau trip last weekend, yopu'll know which one it is as it is the only white 150 there

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

              Hi Tough150,

I have a set of ST Maxx 265/70/17s on my 150 GXL and have no problems with rubbing. The only issue I have is getting the spare wheel cover on (covered in a separate thread). The speedo was corrected with the bigger diameter and now actually agrees with my GPS. I'm very happy with the tyres after 10,000kms on all road conditions and off-road, and found them to be a lot better on wet bitumen than the old STs were (softer compound). I know it's also been covered in other threads but I've found running them at about 45psi on the blacktop has been optimal for me in terms of ride comfort and road handling, but this is very much a personal thing and dependent on your rig and amount you're carrying.

              Cheers
              John

Hi Tough150, here's a couple attached. They're not too good as they were off my phone. Heading off this weekend for a bit of fun, so will try and take some better ones this weekend and post on my return.

                      Cheers

I have been to 2 different Cooper distributors and they have both stated don't go over 34 psi !! Everyday running at 32 and when loaded up go to 34.
Mine are the ST/Maxx in the same size and have done 15,000km on them and one rotation and they are sweet as so far. Tow a heavy boat regularly and they seem spot on. 46psi will destroy them if you on hot roads.....
