  • Steel Valve stem question

Picked up my new Prado 150 on Thursday....woohoo!!

But here is where my question comes in. Part of my delivery was to have Cooper STTs put on but I noticed it had rubber valves stems. Do the new 150s come with rubber valve stems or the steel like the 120s did?

Those steel valve stems from Toyota are quite expensive so would like to know if tyre fitter replaced.

I also really prefer the short metal valve stems overall. Had a lot of experiences in the USA in the mud and wheel spin pulling the rubber stems off. Long steel stems just snap but the Toyos are really good.

They come with rubber stems, which I also agree, is a shame.

I haven't looked into it too much but one tyre fitter I know said that due to some funny casting of the wheel it's near impossible to use any stems but Toyota.

I'd be very happy for him to be wrong though.

Firstly: Congratulations on getting the new Prado!

And slightly off topic - what did you get, GXL, VX? And when did you order it?

I've had a white GXL D4D auto on order since 18 September and was hoping mine might be getting a bit closer :-)

      Thanks.

Thanks Wooley....at least I know the tyre fitter was being honest!

Will have ti investigate further then if Toyo does have a steel replacement. Interesting about the casting making this a problem.

Dreamer, I ordered on Oct 30th. Pretty certain it was just good timing for me...a cancelled order most likely. Same thing when I bought my 120 and they were as rare as hen's teeth then as well but when I went to the dealer I just lucked out because I knew of a cancellation.

When I ordered mine they told me (before they saw one available) that the best would be end of Feb or Mar 2012 if I ordered right away.
