  • Fitting 16" rims onto a 150's Prado... Is it possible?

    Guys.....

I remember reading this somewhere, but I can't remember where.... but is it possible to fit 16" rims to a Prado 150s or do you have to grind the brake caliper a little bit to do so??

I'm assuming the that the front brake caliper is the issue.....no matter what rim offset u get ?

Don't know about the similarities between the 120 & 150 but travis.luke has fitted 90s steelies on his 120 GX without grinding brake calipers.

But what does the insurance company think?

      Hello rob_macca67,

I wondered the same thing recently.

I have a set of 7 inch wide 31*9.5 15 tyres and rims and access to a set of set of 16 inch 2003 Nissan patrol wheels. I tried both on my 150 GX. Both sets will fit on the rear without rubbing but neither will fit the front. The 16 inch rims fit onto the wheel studs but touch the brake calipers about 3 mm before they seat on the hub flange.

Wheels spacers or an 5 mm less positive offset over the standard steel wheel on the 2003 patrol would probably fit without rubbing.

I am currently setting up 6 off 17* 8 inch rims with +10mm offset and 265/70 - 17 Cooper ST maxx tyres and hope that these are OK under the mudguards without touching anywhere, no lift planned.

      regards

      Ross

I had a bit of a closer look into this and I reckon it will depend a fair bit on the type of rim u have; the offset, etc. I had an Black Sunnie 17" rim that I put on and from what I saw of the clearance between the caliper and rim, I don't think it could be done, but a rim with a different offset might be ok....

I tried to put the wheels and tyres off my 2008 hilux on my prado which are 265/75/16 and they don't bolt up,hit the caliper.
