  • The new BFG Rugged Terrain

About to take the plunge and put the Ruggered BFG on my prado 150 gx. I have only done 38000km on factory tyres but am starting to get punctures. I have the odd size of 245/70R17 but ruggered do this size so thought I'd give them a shot. Anyone heard reports on them yet?

Hi Samstruck, I posted a thread on this last month which convinced me to go for the BFG AT's.

    Check it out here: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-terrain-tyres

      Thanks mate,
I'm going to give the ruggered ago. Just ordered them. I use to run all terrain on hilux and was extremely happy with them. Going the ruggered because they do perfect match size of 245/70r17. Will let u know how I go with them. To me they don't look to much different to the a/t. As long as they survive mild trip up north and go well on the beach the rest of the time will be 80% road and 20% gravel.

I don't think that they come in LT construction though which is what I want. Still looking forward to seeing how you go with them as I'm not changing over for another couple of months!

LT stands for Light Truck construction which has thicker, harder sidewalls and can take a heavier load. They are supposed to be tougher and last longer!

BFG make an AT in the 245-70-17 now too. Load rating 119. Not a LT but should be tough anyway.
I think I might go for those.

                Hi Crisp Image

I put a set of 245 70 17 BFG Rugged Terrain on 2 weeks ago. Had an issue with the balancing on one of the tyres but they ordered another one in, instead of putting 200g of weights on - good service!

Anyway, took them for a drive on the weekend, highway not much noise difference to the grandtreks, grip on the dirt was good too.

And at $265 each I was sold !!

That is a bagain. $350 each in country WA including fitting and balancing. Rang my tyre agent today about getting the a/t's instead. He has the ruggered sitting waiting if I want them.

Well I ordered My BFG A/T in June and was told 8-10 weeks. Well I got a call yesterday to tell me they were in (about 3-4 weeks) They are a LT construction in the 245 70 17 size. Having them fitted on Monday.
The Grand Treks did well and took me where I wanted to go including the Vic High Country.
Looking forward to getting the new boots dirty.
                    Regards
