  • Load rating of Prado rims

Where/how do you find out the the max load rating of Prado 150 rims?

I want to fit the same rims to my caravan as the Prado, so I need to know the max capacity to make sure I keep it all legal.

    Thanks
    Ron

AFAIK, the load rating is dependent on the tyre and not the rim.

It would be at least the greater of the load rating of the OEM tyre on the rim or half the higher axle rating. Plus some margin. Some after market wheels have load restrictions. Or at least have done in the past. No help I know.

Not sure what the load rating for a Prado rim is but this might help.

A 150 Prado is legal at 2990KG, so 750kg a rim roughly (minimum). If you have a 2 axle van 2500kg is the Max you are allowed to tow so the rims would have to be OK, if you have a single axle van that weighs less than 1500Kg (which most would) then you will also be OK.

Not sure on the load ratings for individual axles but I would think that the rear axle might be rated over 1500kg so making minimum rating for the wheels more than 750kg.

        Cheers Andrew

          Hello electron,

I dont know what a standard prado 150 wheel is rated at but Speedy aftermarket alloy wheels for the 150 are rated at 1120 kgs each. I would expect the standard wheel to be similar to this. This also matches a 110S rated tyre.

Just for info, my 17*8 et10 Dynamic steel wheels are rated at 1400 kgs each. A good match for LT tyres.

          regards

          Ross
