Tyres Swap At Dealers?

Is/are there places that would swap OEM tyres with the new ones? I just got a quote to swap 5x OEM with BFG AT LT 265/65 18" for 1700+GST. Is that too much?
If this is going by their prices for accessories - it would be.

You should get about $125.00 - $250.00 for the Grandcraps as a trade. I picked my car up drove straight to the tyre shop (15k's) and put 5 Mickey Thompson 265/70/17 ATZ's on for a swap over price of $1400.00 ( he would only take 4 of the Grandcraps, I sold the other privately).

$1870 sounds over the top. Allowing $400 for the BFGs (which is quite generous), that's $2000. I'd say do the tyre changeover yourself and sell the factory tyres on here or ebay.

I paid $800 change over for 5xBFG ATs and a mate of mine paid $850 so $1800 sounds like a rip off. I did mine through the dealer but its also worth talking directly with the tyre place.

I am looking at the same thing changing to BFG's. Dealer was not interested but got a quote for $750 change over for the 5 tyres which appears to be a good deal.

I am not heading off on our trip for 18 months so wonder if it is better to use the current tyres for now and change over just before we go? Will have to pay full price but tyres will have about 30,000 km under them by that stage. Therefore will have brand newbies for the trip. What do others think?

If you go bfg a/t's they'll barely be worn in at 30k.

I got $1400 for my standard tyres on eBay. Making it a $850 changeover for 6 bfg a/t's.

Looks like ~800 is more reasonable.
Bloody dealer - I think they are trying to recoupe the discount from all the accessories prices. Stuff them. I'm gonna go somewhere. Still thinking of whether to get the one in stock 12/12 or wait for 4/13 though.

Hi Jeff - if you were looking for 18, it would have save me a lot of hassel. I am getting ZR so, they will be 18s.

Jeff - yes mine are 265/65/17. Picking up the car in approx 2 weeks. Still trying to decide if it is worth changing now but PM me if interested. I'm in Sydney no no problem on pick up

Trev, I was quoted $440-$450 (can't recall exact figure) when I enquired about swapping my Grandtrek spare for a 265/60/R18 D697LT recently. I had the other 4 swapped by the dealer at no charge to me, don't know what they paid for the set.
