  • Maxxis AT-700 Bravo tyres

Hi Prado Lovers , People I had to take the plunge for rubber and I settled for the MAXXIS 700 for about $260.00 each The size is 275x65x17 .To date I have had no worries .They are slightly noisier than stock but that's no worries Being a little wider has not presented any problems as I don't use the tyre cover anymore as I like the open tyre look (more ballsy) anyway. Secretly though my heart was on the Cooper AT3 LT but I could not afford them as I needed 5 as I do a 5 tyre rotation .No point having a new fifth tyre Anyway Cheers Foxy

i had a good run from maxxis on my previous car(territory turbo) , i couldnt fault them to be honest, id have picked coopers as we have them on a hilux but they dont have them in the right size for territory, so i had 2 sets of maxxis on it, they performed well and far outlasted the factory tires.

After 115,00km out of the original tyres, (about 1mm above legal across 3/4 of the width, and right on the limit out near the edges), so it was time to change tyres ...well and truely.

We settled on the USA Manufactured BF Goodrich 265/65/17 LT A/T KO (120 load rating, "s" speed rating), and we could not be happier.

At $328 fitted and balanced for current stock (not old stock). We decided to stick with the original size and apparently this size tyre is fairly common. Anyway, time will tell. We will rotate all five tyres every 10,000km, and hope to get above 100,000km. So far the ride is noticably better, and road noise is only very slight so far, and unnoticable above the radio or the wind noise from the Rhhino rack/basket and awning.

Any more Maxxis try lovers out there who are happy with their rubber? I am up for new tyres and I thought I was going to choose between Cooper AT3s or Bridgestone 697s ($330 a piece). But Maxxis are pretty attractive at $250 a piece. But then again I could be throwing money away if I have to replace the maxxis a lot sooner.

Anyone out there with Maxxis with a bit of KM's under their belt? How are they wearing, do they grip in the wet, do they grip in the dry, how are they off road?

I have Maxxis tyres on my Patrol, just done the Canning stock route no problems. I put them on my sons car a few years ago ,he hated them,, not what ( he) wanted and couldn't wear them out despite trying very hard,, ha ha ha

I have had them on mine since i purchased the Prado they have now done 80000km and don't look like wearing out any time soon. I have always ran bfs before and intended to replaced the maxis but these tyres just seem to get great mileage out of them. Maybe not the best AT tyre for off road but for a general all round tyre for price can fault them.

Mine have just shy of 25k km (AT-771)

                  They were $220 each f&b
Are far better than the D694's they replaced
Grip extremely well on road wet or dry, and do well for a 70/30 All terrain
Are wearing well, estimate I should get around 70k km out of them
No real noise to speak of (and thats in a monocoque chassis Pajero)

If you want something a bit more aggressive, they have recently released the AT 980, which has a similar pattern to BFG A/T's. Might be worth a look as well, will be my tyre of choice next.
