    Hi guys I know this is is a very talked about topic but I want recommendations for sand driving... I've got 17 inch mickey mtz's with about 50% tread or stock kakadu 18 inch hwy tyres with bout 90% ??? Doing a Fraser trip over chrissy and not sure which to use.

        Highway terrain, muddies can dig in sand. Ht is all u need run around 18-20 depending on how soft the sand is.

          Yeah mate as the others have said, HT is all you need for sand. MTZ will dig in on you.

            Mtz dig bloody awesome holes.. They can move enough sand in seconds to drop you on your under trays..

              I'll add a vote for HT or AT. Last year I went to Fraser & Bribie with Grandcraps on the front & Bridgestone Duellers on the back - both had barely legal tread. Dropped the pressures to 20lb and never had a problem. On Bribie I hit a soft spot where there were 3 cars bogged, and everyone was adamant that the only way to get through was dropping to below 10lb. With my tyres at 20lb, I pulled out 2, and got through myself without issue. It seemed to me that the muddies dug down into the sand, whereas the nearly bald AT's seemed to ride over the soft stuff.
