Hey all,

i have the opportunity to grab some steel rims of a GX for bugger all coin, they are 17x 7.5j rims, the standard alloys are 17 x 6.5 on my gxl does anyone know if there is any issues with these fitting?

They will be off a 120GX and if you fit them to a 150 you will be reducing the track which is illegal. There is a wheel database sticky which will give you the full details. The alloys on a 150GXL are 7.5" wide too.

The offset on the 120 wheels places the centre of the tyre closer to the centre of the car than the 150 wheels. Fitting 120 GX wheels will reduce the distance between the centres of the tyres (track) on the axle and this is illegal. In Q you can increase the track by 25mm but not reduce it at all. I have four GX steelies with good BFG AT 275/65 17 and I need to work out whether to sell them and do something else for the trailer or keep them for the trailer. I test fitted one on the front of my 150 and the 275s touch the strut as the suspension articulates.

If you want to go wider or increase the track there are some good aftermarket options. Go into the build section and check out Hutch and Derek11 and even Craigm's 120. There are others too if you want to check them out. Wheels are personal choice but you can see what a few others have done. The FJ wheels are also an option and get you 10mm increase in track, same width though. The database I posted will give you what the standard wheel is and you can go from there.
