After a lot of research, it appears that the only way to fit LT tyres to KDSS models is to change rims. That is because 18' LT tyres are bigger than the passenger construction and most likely will rub on the Upper Control arm (e.g. Cooper AT3 in 275/65R18), so changing to 17inch wheel with less positive offset is the only way and will also add some extra sidewall to the setup.
Talked to a big tyre store today, they suggested Lenso Intimidator with 12mm positive offset. The price is right ($175 each) The changes still comply with the law (max +25mm for tracks, no sticking out the guards). Want to fit 265/70R17 which is also a legal increase in diameter (776 vs 808mm).
Questions:
has anyone experience with the Lenso rims, which is 17x9 wide, in terms of rubbing or durability?
Alternatives to those wheels? (Dick Cepek torques looks good, but +6mm offset is pushing over the legal limit). FJ cruiser wheels would be an option. Don't like the look for the Prado, unless you take the wheels of the 2014 FJ Cruiser
