  • 150 wheels??

I managed to pick up a set of alloy wheels supposedly off a GXL 150 series. Now that I have had a chance to check them I notice the size is 17x 6 1/2 not the same as on my vehicle which is 17x 7 1/2. Any idea which model they come off. They are identical in looks when placed beside each other from the outside. I was planning to put on some MT 265x70 R17 on them- I'm guessing the 1 inch in width in the rim, won't make that much difference. Any thoughts please!!

The GX wheels are too narrow to run 265s. Are they factory wheels or aftermarket? What is the offset? I am sort of looking for trailer wheels.

They are the OEM wheels. I'm not sure of the offset. I bought them of a guy that had a 150 prado-can't remember if it was a GX or a GXL.

Definitely GX wheels. Evil bay has some aftermarket wheels for sale that look just like OEM but no idea where they are made. I know of some GXL rims and muddies that were for sale a week ago. Pm if you want a telephone number. Not sure if they are still available.

Done some checking today. It seems that I can actually fit 265 tyres on the rims but they won't be legal here, and by the looks of it, the tyre will not be suitable due to the added load to the sidewalls and be potentially dangerous. All the tyre dealers do not recommend fitment especially if the vehicle will be driven at highway speeds. So..start again!!

If its for one rim about the right price if for 4 is cheap
              They are about $1500 each
I paid $500 for one second hand rim for a second spare

I might add the gxl is able to be recognised by the ridging on the spokes and VXcruiser you got a bargain
took me quite a while just to find one

Ok, so the above prices are setting me thinking. A steel rim would be only about $100-130 per rim. I'm wondering how much surface scratching and damage would the alloys get from the first bog I get into??? I think I'd be crying if I paid roughly $250 or more for a rim just to get the surface all scratched. Don't want to sound too soft but I do want to use my vehicle off road. Surely there are plenty of others that have taken their vehicle seriously off road. Do the rims get damaged easily?

Just thought I would mention.....The Factory Steel Rims are "very" heavy.

Actually the factory steel rims from the 120 are probably only 1kg or so heavier than the factory alloys. No idea about aftermarket alloys. I have had alloys on 4wds for a lot of years now and can't say they have been damaged by mud or sand damage. The steel wheels off a 120 aren't legal on a 150 otherwise I wouldn't be looking for wheels for my trailer.

I have aftermarket alloys that I only paid 200 each for and they don't scratch any easier that any other wheel.

I see your comment that steel wheels off a 120 aren't legal on a 150 - I had assumed they were the same but perhaps not - do you know what the difference is and why 120 wheels don't go on a 150?

Offset, 150 GXL has 17x7.5 with an offset of 25, the 120 wide steel wheels are 17x7.5 with an offset of 30, so fitting them will decrease your track by 10mm, any track decrease is illegal. The narrow steel wheels are legal though, don't know why you would but they would be ok.
