Kakadu 18" Tyre replacement availability in the Outback?

Hi,

When travelling around the outback are 18 inch tyres available, difficult or impossible to obtain if you encounter a destroyed tyre?

Last time I was at Mungerannie on the Birdsville track a guy in a Pajero pulled in with a knackered 18" tyre ( pressures too high). They had new ones in stock

You can get anything, anywhere in Australia. It's just a matter of time and money.

Seen 18's in Oodnadatta, Mt Dare and Birdsville. Saw one being changed in Mt Dare about 5 years ago and it's now in the tyre wall next to the hotel. Brand and tread choice might be a bit limited "off the shelf" but they generally keep emergency stock of the most common sizes. And given time they can get you whatever you want/need in.
