  • 17x9 KMC's with 285/70/17's on 2" lift 150?

Ok so I have searched through as many relevant preceding posts as I can and haven't found any details on this sizing/ fitment.
The only offset showing available is -6.

I'm planning on changing UCA's to aftermarket adjustable/ increased clearance versions so no issues there. Happy to roll guards and mod/ change mud flaps also.
Can anyone give some advise on this sizing combo please?
I know 265 and 275 will fit with 8/8.5 inch combos.

+15 is all you need to fit 285/70R17

That's not going to work on a 9" wide rim though.

285 is 11.2" wide. So the tyre will still be wider than the rim.

Of course, in what situation would you not want the tyre wider than the rim?
My original question is in regards to appropriate offset for said 9' rim............

Wheel width should not greatly affect tyre position within the guard. It will only slightly change the sidewall profile of the tyre (bulge or bag). A -6 9" wide wheel will hang out the guards a bit and IMHO will look crap. Stick within the +5 - +15 range to fit 285/70R17 to a Prado.

so a 285 on a stock rim will scrub the guards???

It will touch the UCA. 285/70R17 requires a +15 offset rim as a minimum. Stock is +25 offset.

The stock GXL rim is a 17x7.5 +25
The rim required for a 285/70R17 on a 150 Prado must have an offset between +5 & +15
Depending on the tyre some of these even may lightly touch the factory upper control arm, usually tyres with large side biters.
FJ cruiser wheels (17x7.5 +15) are a popular choice to fit 285/70R17, these with after market upper control arms will have no issues with any tyre after a light massage of the mud flaps with a heat gun.

The after market upper control arms will also give a greater range of wheel alignment options, and allow the lower caster adjustment to be wound forwards, giving greater clearence between the wheel and mud flap area (this was told to me by a wheel aligner with 4wd experience, not from my direct experience).

If you find my build thread there are some photos of the clearance between aftermarket UCA's with FJ cruiser rims (+15) and 285's.

                          Cheers

Does the +5 - +15 range still apply to a 150gx? Or would it be less as I believe the gx has a different track width? I really want to fit asset of 285/70's to a gx, but can't find a definitive answer on what rim offset?

Yes GX still should be offset + 5 to +15. the track width difference between GX and GXL is because of the standard GX rim/tyre is 17 x 6.5(+15)/245/70/17 where the GXL was 17x7.5(+25)/265/65/17. If your measuring from the outside edge of the tyre then track width is the pretty much the same but if you measure from the centreline of the tyres the GX track width is wider.
This is for pre 2015(or 2014 not sure) models as the currents models use the same rim/tyre for both GX and GXL.
