Thanks guys, all of you for your input.

I'm still a bit vague, as ppls answers differ.
Would the 275/65/17 fit under spare cover, if so I may replace spare too. Some get away with this without the spacer and some not....this is so hard :-)
Will I get away with no rub on the body with 275/65/17.
In the Maxxis at980 the 275 is 15mm bigger diameter than the 265....
The reason for Maxxis, is I can get a very good deal retail $304 (aussie) per cnr and I can get them for $245 per cnr.

    Awaiting your valued feedback

Also if the tyre is ONLY 15mm bigger in diameter, gearing should not be an issue??? anyone???

Gearing is fine. Whether you need a spacer or not and whether it will fit under the cover is entirely dependent on the tyre. My 275/65 17 Scorpians needed the spacer (thanks again amts) and it would fit the cover but the cover is in the shed. I hate the things, rubbish gets caught behind them and this scratches the paint and it is exceptional fun to fit the cover over a flat tyre that has sat for a while let alone a shredded tyre.

I'm upsizing to 275 65 17 next week on 2014 GXL. All 5 will be replaced so I will let you know if it fits. Tyre shop and ARB shop have it said should be OK for underbody rubbing also spare on back door should be fine. I'm getting BFG A/T for $282 per tyre. Was a toss between Bridgestone Duelers at $275.

You may not want or need it, bt I would double check that the BFG A/T are "LT" or Light Truck Construction.

Also, the current BFG A/T tyres are now in run out, as they have introduced a new tyre....but honestly, I would grab the BFG A/T current production again....as I have found them o be superb, at over 100,000km now, they have lasted well..across the desert, across the top, across the beaches, fantastic, but I rotate all the tyres, including the spare, wheel balance and align every 20,000 km, and I also run the at 42psi (unloaded) on the highway, about 34psi on gravel, about 22psi on sand, and down to about 18psi or there about on soft sand (but no hard cornering with low tyre pressures)....

Is that the 275/65/17 BFG A/T that you are talking about brogers? Keen to throw a set on my 2015 next month.. just looking into the rubbing issue. (Will fit a 0-2" CalOffroad lift at the same time but def dont wont to run wheel spacers).
