It depends on the tyre and how square the shoulders are. The 150 cover is more generous than the 120 version. A few guys have managed to fit Bridgey 697s in 265/70 under the 150 cover. Not sure about KO2s. My cover is keeping the dust off a shelf in the shed...

This is a sticky topic.

Manufacturers and models are all different, so, I didn't want to just assume that it would fit like the GrandTreks.

If you look up the same sizes in different manufacturers and tread styles, you'll find the actual outside diameters differOriginally posted by nanbar View PostSorry mate, I'm an engineer, I think differently. A spec is a spec. A 265/65/17 is 776.3mm tall (no matter who makes it). A 265/70/17 is 802.8mm tall (no matter who makes it). Its 26.5mm taller which is the bulk of the problem as far as fitting it under the wheel cover goes. Thats what I think, happy to be proven wrong but maths don't lie.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

All that I'm asking for someone who has actually done it with this model of tyre and and size of tyre to say that it fitted well, fitted tightly or didn't fit.

A good way to check the diameter is using a simple formula: A x B/500 + C x 2.54.
in the case of a 265/65/17 tyre, A=265 B=65 and C=17
the result being 265x65/500+17x2.54= 77.63cm where as a 265/70/17 would result in a diameter of 80.28Cm so If the diameter of the factory spare cover is 80cm it probably wont fit unless you really squeeze it.
If the cover is >80cm in diameter I would think you would be fine but I cant speak from experience.

The OD for 265/70 17 isn't fixed at the calculated 265 x 0.7 x 2 + 17 x 25.4. For one thing rim width affects diameter and different tyres have different tread depths and different diameters as specified by the manufacturers.
The tyre profiles vary as well with squarer sidewalks, deeper sipes and so on.
For example, 265/70 17, calculated to be 803mm:
BFG KO2 - 804mm
BFG KM2 -806mm
MT MTZ - 810mm
MT ST2 - 803mm
MT ATZ - 810mm
Cooper ST - 809mm
Cooper AT3 - 804mm
