Biggest tyre to fit under factory spare wheel cover?
Last month I got 5 - 265/70/17 bfg's A/T K02's from Bob J. & they got my cover back on & it looks just like Safriwagon's..
Must admit, haven't tried to remove it & do a refit yet, maybe that will be the test.

I deleted my cover because I've heard, when you get a flat and swap tyres, getting the cover back on over the flat can be very difficult if not impossible.
I cant afford to carry a cover around in the back or on my roof racks when travelling as my car is always packed to the brim.150 GXL - ARB bar, Winch, 9" spots, rhino rack, 32" LED bar, Snorkel, 2" lift, AT's, Dual batts, UHF, 40L fridge, KAON cargo barrier - rear door table

Not sure if anyone has already mentioned it but a tip for those who REALLY want to keep their cover with 265/70R17 tyres. You can remove the black plastic backing off the door, the outside cover will fit over the tyre and held on with the centre bolt.
Personally I got rid of mine as it just slowed down tyre changes, made it harder to check pressure, and I can now carry a tyre bag without having to worry about scratches. Plus it helped minimise that Malibu Barbie Jeep look..... as much as you can having a Prado

I've found that after getting my tyre cover to fit on a 265/70 wheel that it's started to crack the cover near the bottom latch. I put this down to a combination of the facts that I live on heavily corrogated roads that I drive daily and that the latch is under more pressure than usual as there's a bigger tyre under it to hold down. My fix at this point has been to simply leave the latch unhooked and put a larger washer under the center bolt to give it a bit more purchase on the cover. The crack hasn't developed any more so I'm calling it fixed
In any serious offroading or trips that I do the cover will be the first thing to come off- As other's have said, it's a purely cosmetic item that basically just gets in the road if you're trying to bolt a munted tyre back on that you've just changed, additionally it prevents me from hanging a bag off the wheel. However, it does keep things looking nice around town, which realistically accounts for the majority of driving that I do with this vehicle.
