Guys, anybody know much about these?
Time to change the Grandtreks after 4 years and 52000 k.
Some good deals out at the moment from Bob Jane.
They have buy 3 get one free deals on Yokohama Geolander G02 and the Nitto Terra Grappler G2's.
Yoko's going for $260 each so buying 5 tyres works out at $1040.
Nitto's for $229 each so $916 for 5 tyres.

Yoko's aren't LT whereas Nitto's are. Great warranty on Yoko's but great warranty doesn't count for much when you have a flat In the middle of the outback.

Like the look of the Nitto's but haven't heard much about them. Great price though.

I've just been through the grueling process of choosing tyres. . Lets just say its getting harder and harder with new brands and types coming on the market. And everybody has their opinion.

Little is known about the new Nitto G2 in terms of reviews, but Nitto is a niche brand of Toyo. I have heard that its the same 'green tyre' (ie same compound & construction) as the Toyo OPAT2, just a different block design.

In the end, I've just had fitted 5 new Toyo OPAT2 for $1100 (265/65R17). Absolutely fantastic tyre for the money, and starting to become very popular.

Hi droo... After more checks, ringing tyre sellers, I can confirm that Nitto is made by Toyo. The tread pattern on the G2's and the opat2's is exactly the same, just some difference in walls. Also tread depth is 10.2 on G2's and 12.7 on the opat2. I have tried local Tyrepower who stock Toyo (Bob Jane doesn't) but they can't do for less than $260 each with no " buy 3 get 1 free " offer. I will get the 265 65 r17's so if you got 5 tyres for $1100 you have done well.

If I could get the Toyo's for $1100 for 5 I would go with them. Can you suggest where I should go for this price in Adelaide? I'm in the western suburbs.

TyrePower is still the best bet for Toyo's. Try the northern subrurbs ones. The standard price given to me was closer to $235, and that was without any special offers or haggling.

Very happy with my deal, 5 x Toyo Open Country At2s and wheel alignment for $1100 including free rotations & balancing at 5000km and every 10000 km after.
Went to Tyreright at Woodville. Great service, will be recommending them to others.

Thx for your info Droo, saved me a few hundred & have got great tyres, much better than the Nitto's.

I'm new to 4wd and looking at tyres, I know nitto and toyo make awesome performance tyres and looking for this info about their 4b tyres as well, or am I better to just get mickey t or cooper's.

... not sure where you got your info pete but the nitto website states tread depth of 12.9 ..... NOT 10.2 and not sure how you claim the toyo are better when pretty much same Tyre and at the moment $209 from bob jane they seem like an excellent choice

Here is an extract from the Nitto "Australian" website. Shows that tread depth is 10.2. The American website shows 12.9 but this is for the XL version, whatever that is. Australian supplied tyre has different specs. This is what Bob Jane told me when I first enquired. Yep they are a good tyre and "current" price of $209 is good, just make sure of the specs for the one they are supplying.
