Hi all sorry if this has been discussed but I have done a search and cant find any thing.
A few months ago I had a rear wheel snap off doing 100kms down the freeway it snapped all 6 wheel studs. Now I can only guess that there was either a crack in one and this caused the rest to give way or a couple had cracked and so on . Luckily she landed on the shock support stayed straight and managed to get her to the side of the road with out hitting any one or taking any one out with the wheel.
I have always dealt with one tyre place and I know its not from over tightening as they use a tension wrench every time I have my tyres rotated and wheel alignment done. I can only think that some 6000kms of corrugations in the Kimberly's may have had some thing to do it with it.
When I got her back I was a bit nervous driving her again thinking the same thing might happen on another wheel so I decided to find out if you can get some better then Toyota supplied studs but I'm struggling.
From what I read ARP studs are the best around but they don't make them for prados so I'm told .
Has any one found some ? or know of some thing a little more heavy duty then manufactured ones ?
Look forward to your replies Steve
