275/70/17 tyres vs fuel consumption

    EDIT 2: Read your post wrong. Not sure why one is more expensive, as mjrandom says there are different batch numbers and places of origin. I was told by a BFG rep that you won't get warranty out of them if something happens and they look up the batch number on the tyre and see that they never imported it themselves- Basically if something is a grey import it'll be cheap, but there's no backup.

    I purchased mine locally from Gympie and I paid a bit more (I think around 330 a tyre from memory) than Tyre Sales had them for. The extra cost for me was worth it to have somewhere local that I can get warranty and support if anything happend.

      Where are the tyres manufactured? Some BFGs are from the good old US of A others are made in China.

        Cheers. If it were a piddly $20 - $30 per tyre (I'll be getting 6) then yes, I'd go local also. Having said that, I was going to go 697's and the local dealer, without me stating anything about tyresales, offered $4/tyre less than online ($245 instead of $249). But as much as I want to save the money, I just see KO2's getting really good reviews, and the 697LT's getting issues in the wet. I'll try a local mob first, then tyresales as a secondary (but at least they provide a starting point).

          Yeah, I love my Ko2's. One thing I did notice is that they can be scary in the wet on a sealed road that doesn't drain well (i.e. big puddles). I drove up to Rockhampton recently during extremely heavy rain and I had my arse cheeks eating the seatcovers as it was hydroplaning all over the road. Have driven them since with more kays on it and they don't seem to be as bad, but it's something worth keeping in mind as I've read other guys on here having similar experiences. They are awesome off road though, the grip you get out of them is phenomenal.
