I bought an EZ Deflator, pressure gauge and compressor from ARB a few days ago. I notice that the EZ Deflator is giving a reading 4 or 5psi below the pressure gauge. ie the deflator is reading around 35psi and the pressure gauge is reading 40psi. Is this normal or is the deflator faulty?

Re: ARB Tyre Pressure Gauges
Whoa. I think I've had a few too many. I would swear I was seeing double
I have the ARB defaltor and pressure gauge. Freebies when I bought my steel bar. I have never taken the deflator to be highly accurate. I think it reads consistently but I have a compact Hella pressure gauge (http://db.hella.com.au/cgi-bin/catal...w&flmaint=1242) which I use to check the pressure for an acurate reading.

Re: ARB Tyre Pressure Gauges
Had a similar question a while back and upon checking pressures in the shed, The ARB pressure gauge reads 2-3psi higher than the ARB EZ deflator gauge, the stick gauge supplied with the ARB puncture kit was at least 5 psi lower than the reading from the EZ deflator, I have a VDO gauge as well at it showed the same 2-3psi difference as the normal ARB gauge, so im thinking this as the accurate one of the two..... i could be wrong though. Has anyone got or tried a digital gauge ????

I use the gauge on my compressors (TJM & cheapy that won't die) for a general indication that I've put roughly enough air in, then use a dial gauge to actualy set the pressure.

Re: ARB Tyre Pressure Gauges
Just tried the 3 ARB gauges I have..
EZ Deflator - 30.5psi (due to the small scale its easier to get an accurate reading)
Pressure gauge - 30psi
Inflator with gauge - 30psi
Close enough for my liking But dont have a non-arb gauge to test them against.'98 Grande V6 - ARB Sahara bar, IPF HID spotties, ARB compressor, GME UHF, OME Sport suspension, 265/75 MT ATZ 4 Ribs, steel rock sliders, Safari snorkel, Tigerz11 winch, rear ARB locker, Rhino platform rack.

EZ Deflator compatibility with 120 Alloys?
Whilst attending a beach driving course on Straddie last weekend, we all proceeded to "air down" and the Course trainer had a number of the ARB EZ-Deflators for those without gauges to try out, however he stated that anyone with the Prado 120 GXL Alloy rims need not bother because the EZ Deflators were not compatible with them? I asked why and he mentioned that the brass fitting of the deflator is impeded against the rim when threaded onto the valve stem. In hindsight I should of grabbed one to try for myself to be sure. I have noticed a number of members in this thread with 120's so have I been given a bum steer? as I would like to place this on my list to Santa..2004 V6 Grande. BLACK -

I think he is smoking too much weed Craig. Been using one for a few years now. Put it on your list and I will have a word to the bearded old fella for you.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Don't know why he would think they don't work on the GXL rims, mine works fine. Haven't even got the stauns out of the glovebox since I got the EZ deflator, definately the way to go IMO.

I use longacre gauges for the race cars, much better in accuracy than most I have tried.
The trick is to get yourself a decent gauge and use that as your baseline. EVERY gauge will be different, especially mass produced ones.
Set your self a base line you are happy with and work from there.

I used my ARB ezy deflator from day 1 on my 120 and now on my 150, the brass fitting only screws down as far as the rubber collar of the valve giving you 1.5inch clearance from even touching the rim.
