Bargain BFG A/T

We picked up our GXL 150 today and headed straight to see Nathan at Jax in Caulfield south.
He fitted 5 x BFG A/T LT 265/70R17 Cost $610 changeover. What a bargain! He also said I get free balances for the life of the tyres.

I just got a set of BFG A/T's, however I had just shy of a thousand km on our Grandteks so they are on eBay. The best price i found was Goodspanner in Harboard (Northern Beachs sydney) for $305/tyre

Wow, got two quotes today which were nearly double that.

First one was $1250.00 changeover and second one was $1125.00 changeover.

I'll have to email Nathan at Jax and see if they can still do the same deal.

What have other people been quoted recently?

EDIT (just had an email from Nathan at Jax and was quoted $965.00 changeover. They must have been on special at the time.)

EDIT 2 (Nathan emailed back again and dropped the price to $800 changeover. Now that's more like it!)

I spoke with Nathan at Jax this week - fantastic guy and very easy to deal with. Prices have gone up - but $800 change over on BFG 265/70/17 which still seems reasonable to me. Issue here for me is timing - they are not in stock until end June.

As my truck is ready next week (and I'm not waiting 2-3 weeks) I've gone for 265/70/70 LT Goodyear Silent Armour. As I has the goodyear mtr's on the last truck and was very happy I thought I'd give these a go as I don't really need anything too aggressive (mates who have had them give a good wrap). Changeover on goodyear x 5 was $900 (he said they get better deals on BFg due to volume).

Looks like I'll try the BFG a/t or BFG muddies next time!

Interestingly my toyota dealer got quoted $1500 changeover from two different dealers (who I presume they normally use) on the BFG a/t - talk about rip off! :shock:

That's not changeover, that is nearly buying outright at full price and giving them your 99% brand new tyres for nothing.

Bargain BFG A/T

Ordered my new GXL V6 today. Due for delivery first week of July so timing will be perfect for me. Will have to ring Nathan tomorrow and get him to put a set aside for me.

Now I just have to decide between 265/65/R17 and 265/70/R17. Trade off for a little bit extra clearance over changed gearing and speedo. Still can't make up my mind yet.

Sam - my suggestion if you are going to take it onto the dirt then go 265/70 - from past experience in other vehicles every little bit of clearance helps when off-road (like ploughing through toolangi state forest tracks and getting stuck on your diff!).

Is that size legal on the 150's?
