I specifically asked to have a 5 wheel rotation done (which they did do) but was told it was very rare for customers to want this....

You were lucky to have your tyres rotated mine were left as found. I marked a front and rear tyres just to check. They were not moved at all although the service statement says they were done (but not spare tyre). Took the new girl (this was her first service) back and got rectified but what else was missed? I have just completed the Toyota survey - not a happy vegemite But the girl is great heading south WA next week.

You have to check everything dealers do. I had a car serviced and the report said the replaced the power sterring belt. I asked if they fitted power steering to the car while it was there. The car does not have power steering.
On another service ad a different dealler (and car) the report said they checked all external lights. the report did not mention the replacement of a brake light so I questioned it. They said the checks were done. We went out and checked and sure enough the globe had not been replaced. So simple to tick a box and not do the job. The service mand said we will replace the globe at no cost. BIG DEAL for $2 globe.

I do not use dealers for servicing any more except got the first 60K where the service is capped at $210 per service which is not bad. But as soon as 60K is up I will return to my regular repair and service agent.

          Re: Tire rotation

I have had a simialr experience here in Adelaide. I have pampered the car by doing everything as well as I could to ensure the vehicle is being looked after. I have rotated the tyres at 5000 kms as per the manual and looked forward to this being doen at the 10000 km service. the box was ticked but the tyres were not rotated. On questioning why the box was ticked and the rotation was not done, they replied by saying the tyres did not look worn. The purpose of regular servicing is all about preventative maintenance, which means you are performing an action that will reduce or eliminate the possibilty of any problems occurring.

Talk about dumb ! I will be at the least changing dealers and moving away from them completely as quickly as I can.

had ours in for 10k service and they said they went to rotate the tyres and they said they could not balance the tyres .....they were gonna take to much lead to balance so they just put em back on where they were...manager states he had same tyres (BFG a/t) and had same problem....went straight to tyre place and spoke with them they said not to let them !##$@ touch my tyres they dont know how to do tyres...anyway they rotated balanced free and are gonna do it each 10k lol

              Re: Tire rotation

I ask them not to do it as I have 6 wheels and I don't trust them to actually do it correctly or apply the correct wheel nut torque.

Only takes a short time at home, worth it for peace of mind.
