  • Spare wheel UV damage

    Hi team,

I'm fitting the Kaon camera relocation bracket to my 2010 150 series and I've just had a thought.

My original plan was to keep the cover on day to day and take it off for trips when I run a bin bag to prevent UV damage to the tire, since it's stored outside, but after reading the fitting instructions, it seems the camera bracket is not compatible with the hard cover.

Since the spare wheel cover and backing plate will no longer fit on with the bracket installed, this means that the spare tire will now always be exposed to UV light. The obvious answer to preventing damage would be an elastic soft cover, but I think these look stupid and prefer not to.

Has anyone else with this or a similar setup thought about this? Keen to hear your thoughts

Don't think it matters. Tyres on your car are not covered. They expire after 5 years or so anyway so I wouldn't worry about UV damage.
