Pirelli ATR vs Bridgestone D694

Hi All,

Looking to ditch the Grandtrek's on the brand new 150 and have narrowed the decision down to these 2 tyres - based on my needs and some previous good experiences with the Pirelli's.

Interested to hear all of your experiences one way or the other before making my decision.

Both have similar looking patterns. The D694 has the standard OEM size in LT construction. Not sure about the ATR (the Pirelli website does not seem to indicate LT construction until you go up to the 70 profile). I'd say that both tyres would be very close to each other in performance and it will probably come down to what deal you can get and your usage. Go for the LT construction if you venture off road more often than the soccer mums. I would look at tread depths as well as a guide in terms of longetivity (tread wear), and also the UTQG rating. Although UTQG ratings are only comparable from tyres of the same manufacturer, but nonetheless, it is still a guide.

Both good tyres, pirelli slighty better on road, as Amts said go the LT 694, good on and off, i have just replaced my P694's with LT694's and very happy with them.

Got the Pirelli ATR's this week, and a bit of a premium in price to the ATR's, and i've gotta say, I'm extremely happy with them.
In the wet, they are unbeleivable !
Not sure if the are completely unbelievable, or the difference has just made the Grandtreks unbelievably bad. Most impressed with wet and dry grip and handling,
and lack of road noise.

It does make me wonder why you get such bad tyres on a near 70 grand car ? If Toyota values their brand followers, and ultimately purchasers of thier cars,
why do they put tyres on that potentially risk lives, and their product reputation. You don't see Bob Jane all rounders on mercedes, so why grandtreks on prado ?

Can highly recommend them, based on experience so far, just hope they wear well.

These tyres look pretty much the same. I will be looking for new shoes soon too and have been considering the same.

I know that the D694's are a top tyre.... and from others have said so are the ATR's. For me personally, it will come down to price as for me they are as much as much.

I just put a set of these on my 150 (Pirrelli ATR), had my heart set on the Cooper AT3s but these were $100 per tyre cheaper. GO figure - I would have thought they'd be more. Got the standard size (which was a good inch higher than the worn grandtreks). The guy I bought them off said he'd had others bring back the yokos he'd sold and swap them for these. Sure enough there was a set of the near new yokos sitting there when I got there.

They are quiet, have amazing grip on the blacktop and after reading a number of experiences on Explorer Oz I am pretty confident they will be up to my forays into to the Flinders etc. I didn't get the LT version (that is a 70 series).

They look MUCH better in real life than the internet pics. Extremely happy with the purchase.
