Grand Treks..... HT v AT on sand question

Howdy,

about the get my new 150..... would normally swap tyres for AT, and can swap the tyres over at BJ for Duellers, D694, LT's for $695.

Question is, if I am mainly doing sand driving, and now and them A Break and Mt Mee etc, will the HT's suffice? Just want to be wary of price obviously, and if I can save $700 now will do it.

So, will the HT's go ok in the sand and with some basic 4wding?

HT tyres preform quite well on sand when they are deflated. Gripping with tread isn't what you are really after as that will typically just dig you in. What you do need to watch out for however is that the construction of side wall and face is of a lower ply strength than an AT or MT so you have a greater potential risk of staking in a HT tyre.

aaahhhh yes didn't think of that. And considering I have staked a side wall you think I would have considered it!!!

I think I will pay the $695 for the changeover of the 5
