  • Yokahama Geolander 265/60/18's AT-S so far...

I have recently replaced my Dunlop Grandtrek's whatever their called with some Yokahama's AT-S GE12's and am so far very impressed...The tread pattern is aggressive enough for what I want to do with the car and on road my Prado feels ALOT smoother and feels to just simply have a better tyre under it. The Dunlops were marginally quieter (expected of a HT tyre) but not as smooth. I had all intentions of trying them out this weekend at a camping trip through some tracks at Dwellingup, unfortunately our 4 month old decided she did not want to be in the car and screamed for about 45 minutes forcing us to abandon the other guys...Of what we did do they felt very grippy on gravel , handled some rather rocky terrain with no issues... I have posted some pictures of them but they do look a little chunkier in reel life.

Lookin good kakadaz. Don't those Yokohamas wear out fast though? I had a set on my rav4 which didn't last 20,000kms. I suppose they were "soft". They were darn expensive too!

    Cheers

They are very soft but we only do about 12,000ks a year in this car so hopefully we get 2-3 years out of them. We tend to trade cars every three years or so as well so all good. Saying that i'm pretty attached to this car and may in three years buy a new Lexus to replace mine give that to the Mrs and I take the Prado and go to town on it...I will trade it though if Toyota drop in a V8 like the north American Prado has or a good V6 turbo deisel like the LR4 has...

I doubt there will ever be a V8 in our Prados, but I've heard talk of a new diesel engine currently under development.

        Cheers

It could definatly do with a diesel upgrade just to keep up with what other manufactures have on offer.

+1 to that! I know the 2012 Aurion will sport a new generation engine There's still hope on the horizon for the Prado.
