Kumho KL78 - anyone ever use?

I have been trying to get a second set of wheels and wanted BFG AT's for going off road with the club. I have check around and confirmed that BFG's will not be available for several months, so now I need to find an alternative.

Cooper ST were $390 per tyre which is going to be a lot of money and the size is different which means the spare wheel cover will not fit.

Kumho KL78 AT look like a good alternative. They are not LT rated but at $140 per tyre cheaper which will help with paying for the wheels.
So just wondering if anyone has tried the Kumho in recent years who could assist with some feedback.

You could also look at the Bridgestone D694 in LT construction. Purchased mine last month in Sydney for $275 each, supplied and fitted, at Jax Tyres. Should be a Jax store near you.

Thanks for that. I have had a quick look at them but I think the tread is not open enough. Looks like it would struggle with the wet and muddy High Country that I will be travelling in occasionally. Would be good for our summer trips.

I replaced a set of Continentals with Kumhos KU31s on my last car (WRX) and was suprised at how well they handled.
Granted that these were road/low profile tyres, I would also be interested to know how their off road range perform.
If anything like the KU31s these Kumhos could very well be great value for money tyre.

Thanks for that. If I do not hear anything negative in the next week I will give them a go. And promise to add to this in the short term if there are any issues on my first couple of runs in the bush

I would if I could. I have two trips coming up, one on the 26th and 27th March, and BFG have stated that there is no chance of me getting them before May/Jun and they can not even give any real assurance that they will have any for July. If I wait for the BFG’s I can not go on the trips.

I reckon the BFGs are worth waiting for. Mine have 40,000 on the 120 and I'm swapping them with the Grandtreks when the 150 arrives. I only got 30,000 on the Grandtreks on the 120 (and I really should have bitten the bullet and dumped them from the start) and I reckon there is another 30-40,000 left on these BFGs.

No asnswer to this question as with a bit of luck I found a place that has BFG AT's in stock. Now I am happy.
