  • Rear draw and water tank build up

Well it was time for a better set up in the back of the prado so I have set about making a new draw set up with water tank in the back.
The tank holds 68 liters and is made out of 1.2mm 304 grade stainless, the draws are out of 3mm alluminium and the frame is 20 x 20 x 1.6 box section.
Hear are some pics so far.

        allmost finished

Well it has taken a while but it is all just about finished, all that is to be done now is to fit the custom made drop down fridge slide and shorten the cargo barrier and fit that.

Coatesy -how does this go legally with the child restraint? I'm looking at building drawers at the moment, but the child restraint part has me jiggered

Unfortunately, it wouldn't be, unless it's been inspected and approved.

That's what I would have thought too Glen. I've been reading every thread I can on rear drawers to see how people implemented with child restraints. I'm thinking it's going to have to be done by keeping the drawers behind the anchor points, and use an extension strap which comes through a hole in the "top" floor.

I had the same issue with child restraint. Our seat had a long enough strap to reach the anchor point in the floor so no extension strap required. I basically designed the storage (I didn't have any drawers, only a fridge slide) so as not to interfere with the strap for the child-seat.

Basically, the battery pack sits neatly between the child seat anchor point and the 2nd row seat, the timber sits over the point so I've cut a notch out so as not to interfere with the anchor point. The intermediate shelf comes forward just far enough to maximise load space (and fit two crates) but not interfere with the child-seat strap.
