  • diesel safari snorkel instal

i was wondering if anybody have this snorkel installed on their car, i have one installed by a doddgy fitter which must have failed to use the templet. it dosent really fit properly imo. i took out the whole thing and aligned the templet to the body and behold, all the holes dosent match up accurately. i should have done it myself which i regretted after seeing the result

i would like to see the gap between the snorkel and the body.

Take it back, and get them to give you a new guard, fully color matched and fitted at their expence, then go and fit the snorkel yourself.

at time like this i wish i was in OZ but anyway dont think it is possible, even if i did demand i doubt the workshop here will actually give me a new guard, the proprietor here has the i dont care attitude sadly. Ive heard a number of stories with regards to the workshop competence. my friends whole engine was killed because they never torque the bolts and they never take responsibility for it.

pics as requested. as you can see the black lines does not match up with the holes. Going to need to figure out a way to fix the snorkel hole.

With out knowing the exact shape of the snokel, you may get away with re drilling the holes in the correct spots and so lon as there is some rust protection (ie paint) on all of the holes then they would theoretically be covered back over by refitting the snorkel?

As for the snorkel hole, you may be able to use a nibbler and open it up a little more as required?

Its a shame that you don't think the original installer will come good on the boched install!!!

              Damn .........

I'm waiting for my SS to arrive from Down Under and after seeing this, I'd rather do it myself.
Even if it gets spoilt, once you yourself have done it, it doesn't hurt that much than it does when you have paid for it.
Infact I am looking for any information on how to go about a DIY fitting, if anyone has a lead/link, do let me know.

              Cheers,
              Sam
