  • Pics of installed Chinese 7" GPS DVD' players please

    Hi

I'm after owner pics of their installed Chinese 7" GPS DVD players.
Only interested in 90/95 installs and the unit has to be this style http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Erisin-ES...item19d6535978 with the motorised tilt-able display. Doesn't have to be the same brand or model, just the same style.

Just want to see how they look before I buy one. Looks like the display might protrude from the dash quite a bit.

    Pics please...

          Thanks Easy

The ones I'm talking about with the drop down display have a large step at the bottom that sticks out further than the already protruding display. Thats what I need to see. Want to know how bad/good its going to look before I commit.

Any feedback from owners on the quality/overall satisfaction level from any of these upgrade units? Have looked around for several hours on the web and only seem to find a couple of options--both Chinese no-name units.

Any suggestions on a reasonably-price unit for a 95 series?

Something with a relatively recognised brand name would be ideal.

              Thanks,

              Rob

                Hi Rob

I wound up buying an Erisin unit (as far as Chinese stuff goes, its a recognised brand name) same as this - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Erisin-ES...item1c2df340c1

Wanted the tilt display so as to avoid sun reflections and also the volume buttons are on the right hand side and are individual buttons so you can adjust by the fumble method and not have to take your eyes off the road.
Also there's no rear fan to suck dust into the guts like a lot of others do.

Australian stock so very quick delivery.
Mine had a huge difference in audio level between the radio and all other sources. Listen to a CD and switch to radio and have your ears blown off. It has been returned and a replacement is in the mail (ex Sydney).
There is the usual Chinese/English language problems but these people are genuinely helpful and apart from the language issues I had no problem obtaining a replacement.
Apart from that hiccup, everything worked as expected. OziExplorer works on the SD card perfectly.
I was concerned that the display would look wrong protruding from the dash but it doesn't. I'm happy with the choice.
Whether the tilt mechanism will hold up to off road usage remains to be seen. Although the mechanism seems a bit sloppy (has to be so as to work at all) and definitely will suffer from vibration, it doesn't look like its going to collapse in a hurry.
Have a trip middle of Dec so will report back on its life expectancy.

Installing. Well you'll need to buy a wiring harness adaptor from Super Cheap etc and you'll have to do a little surgery on the dash board. I had to remove about 5mm from across the bottom of the facia so as to allow the tilt mechanism to operate correctly. Can't see this when installed.
Hopefully I'll have it back in this weekend so will be able to post pics etc.
