  • Sahara Bar moved. not happy.

Long story short, the Sahara bar on my 90 series moved yesterday while out 4wding on a mates property at Tarago, I bumped the lower part of the bar on a dirt mound, nothing serious, but it moved the bar up on the left about an inch and dislogged my flair and nearly damaged my headlight. Now i know that the dealer i bought the car off had the bar off to remove the winch, so im guessing the Apprentice forgot to tighten the bolts up to the correct amount of tightness. As its the first time ive tested the bar like that its why im only finding this out now. What im after is if anyone has a copy of the fitting instructions for a sahara bar, im mainly after how much tension the bolts all require, im pretty pissed about it as i now have to realine the bar and my ipf's etc. not too hard i guess im just happy i found it now and not when i hit a Roo or something at 100k's!
    Thanks in advance.

PS. some photos of my fun yesterday! :-)

The first shot you can see the bar has moved....

Well ARB Where useless, All they wanted to do was book me in for a fitting and would not give me any info, so I just got them as tight as i possibly could, should be ok now and hopefully not move again!!

what are the fog lights in the bar like ??

i am getting one of these puppies and i am hoping with the fog lamps mounted in the bar i'll get enough spread to be able to run two spot lamps instead of a spread and a spot.

      Thanks Sam

Sorry but no. ARB have posted these for the 120 and 150 but unfortunatley not for the 90 for the Sahara BUT they have for the Deluxe Winch Bar. I would imagine that the basic mount is the same so hopefully should be able to use the information conatined within:

        Deluxe Combination Bar 3421040
        Deluxe Winch Bar 3421050

        Hope it's of some use.

Just tighten them up as much as you can, make sure you have a heavy duty spring washer with it, the bolt should be high tensile, so it shouldn't strip or snap.
This is what I have done with mine and I have no problems.
One thing I did pick up on was that they removed the bullbar to fit the winch, I never had to do this when I fitted my winch, the bar was still on the vehicle and I just put the winch in with the use of a little bit of rope to hold the weight of the winch untill I got the bolts in, no need to remove the sahara bar as there is plenty of room behind it and the vehicle.
