  • Winch mount suitability behind ARB alloy bullbar

I am looking at putting a cheap winch behind my alloy bullbar.
It has a cutout for the fairlead by the looks of it. Bullbar pic Click image for larger version

I was looking at a winch mount that connects the the chasis rails behind the bar, but not sure what sort of mount i need, and was hoping someone had bought one of these type of eBay with success. Mount pic Click image for larger version

I am not looking at a massive expensive winch, but a cheapy to simply hook up to pull my campervan into the garage from the backyard and so on.
I currently do so with a small winch with a few lengths of steel tubing to span the back garage door as an anchor, but the tubing is starting to bend, and i feel one day will slip off, and i don't have the winch hooked up to a car battery with engine running, but the battery from the van.

So i wanted to fit a winch behind the bar to do this work, and have there as a back up if out 4x4-ing (not expected though).

After having a look behind the alloy bar i can see the 2 x chassis ends.
Tight area for a winch, but possible.
Was thinking of buying one of those pre made bases and using 2 x U bolts to fix it to the top of the chassis rails.
Not 100% sure it would hold enough weight though.
Another option is to fabricate a base and bolt to to the steel bar chassis supports, but am a little unsure if these would be solid enough as an anchor.

Couple of pics of behind the bar.

Its a TJM bar. I reckon the TJM winch cradle would work. It suits the TJM T15 Steel bar which is very similar to the alloy job. Perhaps contact your nearest store and ask the question, they should be able to confirm with the head office in QLD. From memory around $300 but it will be a neat fit.
