New dvd unit/screen

Got a new Pioneer AVH-P5050DVD unit installed in my prado today. Plays all the usual dvd/mp3/cd etc, has a lead for my ipod going to the glovebox. Ipod is then controlled via the 7" touch widescreen.
It's got detachable face for extra security (which I will be using all the time).

As it was replacing the double din unit, got myself an aftermarket toyota pocket which has filled the space nicely.

I'm quite happy with it

Very nice unit..... are you able to operate a gps on the same screen.

Looks nice when the screen is out. Not sure about the unit sticking that far out. I am considering a Double Din JVC unit with a removable face. Make sure you have a good Alarm system.

yep can operate GPS, reverse cameras, PC, phone and more all from the screen if I get them.

And yeh it has to stick out that much so that the screen clears the fascia. I was thinking of getting a double din, but there weren't many with removeable faces, and the ones that were you paid well for it. Also will most likely be putting a CB were the pocket is at some stage

and yep, car has a very good alarm

How do the flip out screens handle off road? Was thinking of this as one of the many options for OziExplorer mapping... but thought they might snap with all the movement.

yeh I'd be a bit sceptical about having them out whilst 4wding, they do wobble a little bit.
however when you're 4wding you don't really need them out anyway, as you're focusing on other things!

have been considering something like that for my car, just one mounted above my shelves that's easily removable when the space is needed.
