  • OEM or aftermarket roof rack?

I'd like to install a roof rack/basket on my '01 Prado. It has the factory rails on it and a sun roof. I've been searching for cross bars for the rails but can't find them. I was wondering if I should remove the OEM rails and go with a complete gutter mounted aftermarket rack. I won't be sleeping up there, just looking to carry 4-6 50 pound suitcases to and from the airport or sacks of veggies/goodies from excursions into the countryside.

Any ideas, brands, pics and where to purchase?

    Thanks!

      Thanks Mick.

In those threads I've found ARB, Rhino, Jarram Overlander, Frontrunner Wind Cheetah and an Outback aluminium.

Anyone know what kind of weights they support, materials of construction, price, purchase links etc?

Thanks Kevin. The only problem with that is, nobody I've come across here knows what a Prado is!

I ended up buying a set of Thule 754xt cross bars on Ebay, and plan on shipping the Thule Xpedition from my Land Rover over to where my Prado is.

          Thanks for the help.
