OK i dont mean to start a discussion that will go round in circles but would like some answers to a couple of specific things about making this decision as there is a lot of stuff to read on here about snorkels...and everything really!.

I'm doing the tjm/safari snorkel dilema at the moment.. decided on safari as can turn the top around easy.. the tjm is on a funny angle at the top and looks like wouldnt work too well to turn around (correct me anyone if im wrong) .. and can fit pre-filter to safari if I ever need to (ditto on correction) but this whistle thing im reading about is worrying.. snaga says he blocked a hole and it shut up.. b??miller says he can't stop it.. or is it just the sucking noise? Not too worried about the look... i see a snorkel as a functional... not aesthetically pleasing item.. but they do add to the meanness!

Keen to hear another 90series V6 thoughts or photos of a tjm snorkel

Mind you... I drive mostly with the windows down and have Cooper ST's ... so I probably can't hear half the noises my snorkel, roof racks and sunroof make :lol: :lol:

I have a safari snorkel and to be honest cant hear a difference from the before and after fitting. I have fairly worn cooper ST-C's which are getting noisy so maybe the hum from them masks any noise. I also have a weather shield which may stop some/all snorkel noise. The only thing is fuel economy seemed to suffer slightly post fitment.

i have a safari snorkel on mine & there is no problems of any sort. it has weahter shields & bfg,s even with the super charger there is excessive suction (air noise) looks good as well cheers warwick.

I have a safari snorkel and havent had any issues with any noise or anything. plus it looks a lot better than the TJM version..

I have a safari, no noise although I have muddies and a cargo rack with a hilift jack bracket that makes a hell of a rattle. You have to expect some noise when you add extras, its all part and parcel to modifying your toy. Adding stuff makes it noiser, slower and thirstier. If you dont like it stick to a camry or something, lets face it your driving a big box on wheels. No matter what you buy it will do the same thing. The only advantage on the safari is you can a add a pre air intake filter, meaning a filter before your engine air filter. But ive never seen a 90s with one.

I had my (Safari) snorkel fitted while I still had my nice quiet highway tyres on, and the only time I noticed the noise was high revs, window down on the road. The difference was so small that the noise of driving on dirt drowned it out.

Of course since then, I've fitted roof racks, mud tyres, throttle body spacer and a modified air intake tube, so I've got no hope of hearing the snorkel, lol.

I've got the Safari snorkel and have never noticed any noise increase to worry about.

What sold me on the Safari snorkel is the local TJM dealer gave me a price for the Airtek then proceded to explain why for my Prado the Safari was a better option

Two main things he felt were the Safari joints were made witha more pliable material so sealed better and the manner in which water was drained fom the snorkel head.

That he was advising to buy a brand other than his own made the decision easy for me.
