  • Light at back???

I always wondered why this light was here but never actually turned on, does anyone know what it's for. I really don't think it's a reflector.

(Sorry guys it was this one)

On my 90 series, that was the working brake light (and also night-time tail light)... doesn't yours work?
Ignore this - the OP's photo has changed... It now highlights the non-working tail light as supplied to Australian markets.

Thats the park/brake light, if its not working sounds like the bulb has blown

              Re: Light at back???

              Assuming your in Australia.

Then with the spare wheel on the rear door the brake and tail light clusters in the rear quarter panels don't met ADR specification for visibilty angles.
Thats why there is light clusters down lower in the rear bar.
From what I have seen the later models have working tail lights in that cluster but not brake lights.

              Hope that helps

i believe its a indicator in non aus markets and not a brake/tail light
                  could be wrong tho

                    Re: Light at back???

As mentioned, it's a blank. No need for a bulb in AUS due to regulations, do the maths on how many light bulbs cost over how many prado's sold, might as well leave it out!
It's purely aesthetic in other words.

Same thing in the new patrols, only 1 reverse light and only 2 out of the 4 brake lights actually work. You can buy looms for them pre-made which fit into the existing wiring, all you need to do is cut the hole for a bulb.

Don't think the same thing exists for us 90 owners, but it's be pretty easy to cut the hole and run another wire IF you want them working.
