I don't have a photo but mine has gone through the rubber flange on the passenger side.

Yep the same boot is on the right side also.....its easier to see it from the under bonnet position so either feed thru a string or wire so you can pull it thru from the bonnet side. To open it up just feed thru a screwdriver then you can lever the space open to feed what you need to feed thru.

My UHF aerial is on the right because its not spring loaded so I can see it as it hits branches etc more easily....its only one of those thin wire ones. On the left I have the mobile phone aerial but its spring loaded & too thick to be right in front of me all the time whilst driving.

      Cheers

I recently purchased a GME TX3220 and found that i could fit it where the ash tray slides into the with a small modification.

          Gday Fredd,
just picked up my 95 TD TX prado and was also looking at the TX3220 - what is the mod that you needed to make and do you have a pic? as a non smoker the ash tray position seems like a great mounting spot!
          thanks

I was also looking at the traditional units with controls on the UHF, but I recommend at least considering a MIC-controlled (unit eg, TX3340) with a discreet install. I'm VERY happy I went for this instead.
Check the install on my build up: viewtopic.php?p=150284#p150284

I have the same UHF as Glen and I agree that having the controls on the mic is very convenient not only having the controls and the screen in your hand, but it give you a lot more flexibility with the mounting of the UHF.

The only thing I really miss from a traditional unit is the squelch control. Navigating the menu for this is quite a pain.

Bumping this up abit as i have just relocated mine.....i had it originally screwed down against the console and i didnt like it /too hard to see and use so after umming and ahing for 10 mins i bought the GME din adaptor . Best thing ! Much easier to use and looks much better , even at night it co-ordinates with the dash pretty nicely ( crap photo though ) ! For under $30 i reckon they're definately worth it .
