  • ARB Air compressor location

I have a 2001 TD Prado with ABS. I have a new ARB compressor i want to hard mount. Going through the forum all the normal places are out as the ABS regulator takes up the space near the brake booster and I will be fitting a 2nd battery soon, Apart from relocating the battery to the rear and putting the compressor where the 2nd battery would go on the passengers side, or alternativly putting it in the cargo bay , does any body have any other ideas?

    Regards

    Gerry

You may be able to fit the compressor under the passenger seat if you dont have a cd stacker there or electric seats.

I put my ARB air compressor on the drivers side between the firewall and the ABS unit.
      Hope this helps.

Any pics of that location? I currently have it in my cargo bay but would like to move it into the engine bay.
        Cheers, Leon

i would also like to know where people have mounted then in a v6 model. The ideal would be to have it in the engine bay but i don't think i have anywhere for it with the second battery and the charcoal canister moved to the other side!

So did I, but I would prefer it outside the cabin.

Heats not a problem where I have it... back left side of the cargo area... it's now that my daughter is touring with us/me it wakes/scares her as it's so loud.

yeah that's a pain. I put mine under the rear seat on the drivers side just in the door. I'm hoping there is enough space between it and the seat. I think I'm going to put an air tank underneath as well just so it doesn't run as often.

FlyNDrive has an airtank on his FJ Cruiser and it worked really well when we used it on a recent trip to the US.

                          Re: ARB Air compressor location

In my case, I use a Power air compressor which is longer than an ARB.

I installed the air compressor on the driver side under the bonnet. Just moving around the horn. Charcoal canister was installed on the cover of the fan on the other side, so no worry about it. Of course, I still have my 2nd battery on the left side.

                            Re: ARB Air compressor location

On mine I managed to move the starting battery across a little and managed to squeeze it in between, bolting it upto the side panel. Had to pull out the inner wheel arch to do the nuts up but the pump and the battery both bolt up nice and tight.
I'm not that keen on having it in the cab because of the noise and the heat so this worked out well.
This is a great pump so far and the wiring harness that comes with it is a breeze.
                            Fritz.
