  • 2 inch Body Lift

If i wanted to get a 2 inch body lift fitted to my vehicle do i need to extend anything eg, brake lines etc? I already have a 2 inch coil lift but am thinking about a body lift also.

If the body lift can go in without doing any mods then that would be gold, but just want confirm with other members before i go ahead with the purchase.

    Cheers

Brake lines, radiator/fan alignment, transmission selectors, etc would all need modifactions I would think...

Thanks lads, that answers my questions. Glen has done his vehicle up very well, looks and performs great.

          Thanks AB

          The essential mods are:
          - 8x body blocks (in two different sizes)
          - Radiator drop to line up with engine
          - Steering extension
          - Rear cargo bump stops (above the chassis, behind the rear wheels)

          Other mods to consider:
          - 4x4 selector; mine is okay, it just touches the plastic interior, but with 2" BL you'll probably need to do something about it)
          - Transmission selector; my auto just needed adjustment from underneath. It's not actually a mod, just a very easy adjustment of a bolt/slider. The gear selection is a little stiffer after BL. I don't know if anything is required for manuals.
          - Rear bumper impact bar (mounts to both body and chassis)
          - Bull bar lift (or bumper)
          - Positive wiring harness (cable is a bit short on v6, it might make it though)
          - Handbrake cable extension and rear guide bracket (I've fitted an aftermarket bracket from USA).
          - Sub tank inlet hose needs adjustment or possibly even extension on larger lifts.
          - Main tank bash plate could be raised to gain clearance.

          A couple notes:
          - Unhook the heater hose at top/rear of engine bay before lifting
          - Air piping after the filter will bend
          - No flexible brake lines need to be extended for the Body lift, but the steel lines will need to be stretched (at the front, where they're coiled up)
          - I don't have ABS or traction control so have no idea if that complicates the matter.
          - It's not legal to body lift a vehicle with Air Bags

If you'd like me to elaborate on anything above, just ask.

Look through my build up thread for some photos.

i Suggest a 1.5 " body lift. as it is much easier to do on these vehicles, i did mine myself, including the making of all the parts, and the radiator is easily relocated as there are more hole 1.5 inches down in the body work already, just a little push and shove to get it in them and shifter lengths are fine in a manual. if you want i can do up some drawings of the parts i made up so you can take them to a mchine shop and get them made up, might be cheaper than buying a kit. and i can say that other than that it is an easy lift to do with just a socket set and a jack.

Awesome thanks for the tips guys. I'll be in contact when I think about it more seriously. I think the better option will be 1.5" since most other members have used it and know how to fit them etc.

              Cheers
