  • 2" Body Lift - Who has done it?

Looking for info from someone who has actually got a 2" body lift installed, wanting to know if there is anything additional to modify from the 1.5" lift e.g; gear stick/s, etc.

Also want to know who sells the 2" kit, I already have blocks and steering spacer is in production but need the body bolt kit.

Would love to see pics as well.

    G'day Evo.
I did a 2" body lift on my 90. I made all the blocks/ spacers/ and brackets myself. The bolts I got from a fastener shop. Apart from the bullbar and rear bumper bracket mods it's pretty simple. I removed the lower radiator shroud lip to clear the fan, made the steering spacer and unclipped the diff breather lines from the original clips and re fastened them.
I didn't need to touch the auto shifter. I uncoiled the metal brake lines in the engine bay slightly so they are not under tension. I modified the air intake to make it more even but this isn't really necessary. I also modified the LPG tank brackets to tuck the tank up under the rear for more clearance - again not essential.
Make sure you use high tensile bolts.
What do you want pics of? There's pics of the Prado after the lift in 'my profile' 'album'.
    Cheers, Ben.

Thanks for the reply Ben, you would to have measurements on the bolts? Or did you just take your bolts down and ask them for the same but 50mm longer? Are you running a suspension lift? As for photos I'm interested to see what the truck looks like overall, if it looks obvious that the body has been lifted.

Yeah there's a couple of different length bolts but I just took mine to the fastener place and asked for the same but 2" longer. I also used new nyloc nuts. I've got about 3 and a bit inches lift at the rear and 2 at the front. When I'm not using the 33's I've got 31" HTs for everyday use and yes with the 31's it is pretty noticeable but probably more so the rear. With the 33's everything looks in proportion. I also made rubber splash guards for each wheel arch to cover the gap between the body and the chassis which has helped make it less noticable. If you like I can PM more pics.
        Cheers, Ben.

looks like I am going to have to hastle my old man to hurry up and finish making my steering spacer and arrange some bolts. My Prado isn't a daily driver so Im running 33's all the time. Im keen to get a bit more clearence for the tyres, they scrub up in the top of the wheel arch.

          cheers,

Are you planning on larger tyres after the BL?

My BL made a very noticable difference to the overall appearance, stepping into the vehicle and the ride height in traffic (looking down on cars). IMO, the only time a bystander might notice that it's BL, not suspension, is if they look from afar, from one of the sides, due to all the things that are hanging down lower than the body (chassis, cross members, transmission, etc).

I dont think i could go much bigger in tyre size with only a 2" BL and on stock rims, also I think my diff ratios would be an issue.
After i sort out the BL I will make some custom sliders and front bar, I think its going to look huge!
