  • Transfer box - LC120 transfer box on D4D colorado??

Hi all im new to the forum so please bear with me. My Rig is a UK Spec 3.0 D4D Manual Colorado GX 95 series which ive owned for a few months only.

ive found i have the normal problems; dash rattle and more majorly the 3.0 D4D has the old thud when changing gear, its getting quite noticeable now, so would like to rectify it, i cant decide what to do...
    1 recon the transfer box,
2 fit a second hand one or
3 try and fit the later 120 series transfer box -

option 3 is my preferred choice ive had a quick look underneath both and it looks to be the same, though upon checking part numbers ive foudf the 120 has a similar part number but the last 3 digits are different.
can anyone confirm if the later model t/box will fit the colorado? without any enhancements, and is it actually better?

or going one better is there a 6 speed box that will fit it? just for better economy on the motorways.

    all help much appreciated

The D4D motor was never available in the 90 series in Australia until the updated 120 series, I would presume the 120's 6 speed will bolt up fine, but you will most likely need to custom make a new cross member and front and rear drive shafts may be of different lengths to the std 90 series ones
97 VX Grande, with front & rear air lockers, ARB Sahara winch bar with tigers 11 winch, 2" EFS lift, 265/75/16 Achilles Desert hawk XMT, and more.
