  • Liner for sun/moon roof

I have a 1998 VX Grande. The liner in the sun roof has broken around the edges that fit into the channels and wont sit in place any more. I had bought the car second hand and suspect it is not a Toyota original sun roof.

For the Majority of the time I dont need the liner to shut off the light through the glass so as an alternative I could remove it completely but would need something to reduce the heat through the glass on very hot days, any ideas.

Has anyone had a similar problem?

How can I identify if it is a genuine Toyota sunroof, My last preference would be to go to them to get a new liner.

I am planning to get the roof liner recovered shortly (the cloth has sagged off the ceiling) and they will install an cover a new liner in the sunroof if I can locate one.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

bks please put your location in your profile and we can maybe direct you to an aftermarket installer. And that would be my suggestion, go to Doyles or someone similar and ask the question.

Some pics of inside control panel and cover, and some external pics of sunroof will be good for us to possibly identify for you wether it's a genuine sunroof or not.... Cheers Steve

thanks for clarifying that, its is what I suspected. Which probably means no chance of getting a new liner.

bks your best bet will be a motor trimmer (upholstery) or aftermarket sunroof installer. I suggested a doyles because they do both. Cannot comment about them in Sydney but they seem fine here in Bsb. Anyway google is your friend.
