Hood-scoop for LC prado

Hey all,

Can somebody post of picture for installed Hood-scoop on 95 series prado? And where did you bought it?

Like this one (but it has a plastic hood)

That's a cool scoop

I've only got a little one that I picked up from SSV with the mesh for my grill, I was going to get it painted and professionally installed, but it sat in my shed for years, and one day I just said "Stuff it" I wiped off the hood, ripped off the tape, and plonked it on

Sorry about the photo quality, it's dark out there atm, and only had my phone handy.

That is one - nice small scoop - did you make a hole in the hood - so that the air will go to intercooler - or this is just and exterior tuning with nothing to do with incoming air?

Mine's a V6, so no intercooler to feed, it was purchased to provide cooling air for a supercharger that I never got around to buying, so just to get it out of the shed I sealed up behind the mesh and stuck it on as decoration only.

If I ever do get around to charging it though, it's right above the plenum, so just needs a hole saw up from the bottom, and pull out the seal behind the mesh.

Why put in a scoop when the original bonnet is double skinned, you only needed to make a hole on the underside of the bonnet, that is what those holes are for at the front of the bonnet.

It's because once you put a bullbar and spotties on the front, it limit's how much air goes through the scoops behind the grill, so they put a scoop on top to make sure the intercooler is well fed.

And in my case, it's more for pose factor, lol. (I wasn't overly concerned about airflow)

I see, but what most people don't know is you can buy or make up some upside down scoops that sit in the opening of the two bonnet inlets that hang down and scoop in more air if needed from behind the grill.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a scoop looks terrible or stupid, I just prefer the std look.

I see, but what most people don't know is you can buy or make up some upside down scoops that sit in the opening of the two bonnet inlets that hang down and scoop in more air if needed from behind the grill.

They're the standard ones for intercooled diesels, the ones I mentioned get their airflow blocked by barwork and lights. They are a good clean design, but are only working at their best with nothing in front of them.

Exactly why I put a Hilux scoop on my 95series. See photos (if you havent spotted em in the 120series threads).

Here's my mod that I've been planning and finally got it done yesterday...97-05 series Hilux bonnet scoop on Prado 90. Still need to get the mesh done on the front of the scoop, but that's for another day.

i have a dented bonnet and am looking into a V8 swap...wonder if i can get me one of them bonnets.......would look pretty mean with that and a tube bumper
