  • Rear recover points

Just wondering what other people use as rear recovery points? I have a hook fitted to the front and think ill get one for the back end too but wondered what other options there are.
A mate has a "bush hook" which fits into the sleeve of the towbar and just has a hook hanging out the end. Id prefer not to have to carry something else and even more so not to ruin departure angles?

    Any other options anyone :?:

I use a similar arrangement to the bush hook you mention and it does tend to drag a bit (the sparks always gets everyone excited) at certain angles

I have seen some 90 series with a recovery hook fitted onto the passenger side of Hayman Reece style receivers where it bolts onto the chassis.

I would like to do the same, but the bolts holes in my genuine Toyota bar are different to the normal recovery hook so they dont line up.

I'm not sure if a hole has been drilled specifically to allow fitment of the hook, or it just so happens that the bolts for those particular receivers (whatever they were) just happen to match the recovery hooks.

I'm a little dubious about drilling another hole in the structure to fit a hook.

I just use the hayman reece receiver itself. (ie: slip the strap into the receiver, and then the pin through the strap loop/receiver). Apparently it is possible to bend the pin this way, but I haven't had any problems like this myself.

I do have a home made version of the 'bush hook' you mention, but it messes up the departure angles too much for my liking.

Is the standard rear bar a Hayman Reece product, or something Toyota have manufactured :?:

It is defintly possible that you will bend the pin, Ive seen it happen, had alot of fun trying to get the pin out it bent it that far.
My truck has a heavy recovery hook attached to the tow bar as mentioned, would highly recomend a correct hook over the recever pin.
