Winch mounting to factory alloy bar??

Hi All,

This topic came up last night whilst speaking with my missus about the wishlist that i have :twisted:.... never a good discussion :shock:

Do you know if it is possible to modify the alloy Toyota Delux bull bar on the Prado to allow you to fit a winch???

pic of my alloy bar, it does not have the cutout like the 120's i'm thinking probaly not, but curious...

Yes it can be done Ghost, But before you try, see if you can source a winch cradle, and see if it will fit behind your bull bar, as you will need this as it is an alloy bar, if it fits, then you can cut a rectangular hole and 4 holes for the winch mounts, but also check out how much it will cost to do the modifications, as it may be cheaper to get a new bar that is winch compatable.

Thanks Croozza,

Will do some digging and see what sort of winch cradle might slot behind, It would be good to keep the alloy bar, but worst case if it's as expensive as putting a new steel one on then i will go steel, Just want to figure it all out prior to the bus going in for the suspension upgrade :wink: ....

I have done the measurements and yeah it is possible. Down the track I will fabricate a cradle for mine and get the welders where I work to stitch it all together. I can weld pretty good but hey I may as well use em

As croozza stated though the cost may be offset if you cannot do the job yourself.

Chriso you're a lucky bloke being in that sort of job :wink: yea i can weld..... well sort of, i wouldn't do anything that i would entrust my truck and life with though :twisted: .... i do have a couple of fellas that are boiler makers but, chances are they wouldn't get the time to do it, so for me i would endup having to pay someone, so chances are it might end up being as expensive
