Does anyone have any pics of the fuel tank breather on a lwb diesel? I am fitting breathers to the diffs, trf case & gearbox. thought I might as well do a fuel tank breather to the breather manifold too.

Fuel Tank Breather

I recently noticed that each time I fill up with diesel, quite a lot of air is being sucked in when I open the filler. I am assuming it is being sucked rather than blown because I'm openning the filler when the tank is nearly empty of fuel and I wouldn't expect the tank to be so pressurised by diesel vapour. I suspect a blocked fuel tank breather because I've been through a bit of mud and dirty water which gets in everywhere.
I then stumbled across another thread on the forum - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...er-maybe/page3
The 90/95 series (or at least my UK spec does) have the same valve setup (same part numbers) but it looks like it might be located in a different place. Has anyone found/seen this breather on their 90/95?95 3.0 Camp Car, 150 V6 Daily Driver[SIZE=4]

OK, I found it. Here it is slightly off center in the pic (to the top right):
The pic was taken with the camera just above the rear axle, pointing to the rear (at the fuel tank).
And a close up:
This is the unit (one hose clip and one 10mm nut to remove it):
When I tried blowing/sucking through it, it was almost completely blocked but started clearing with a bit more blowing.
There was a fair bit of crap in the cover:
I gave the whole lot a good soak and clean, and then put it all back again. I'm off to do some husbanding and fathering, but will come back and extend the breather a bit later today.95 3.0 Camp Car, 150 V6 Daily Driver[SIZE=4]

Diesel Fuel Tank Breather Check Valve Prado 150 series, on removal and inspection mine had deposits of very fine red dust up into the attached tank pipes. Presumably this would eventually end up in the tanks as well as any water vapor as the air expands and contracts inside the tank drawing in humid air.
I moved the fuel tank breather check valve with one metre of fuel hose up into the filler pipe space and added a crude toilet paper dust filter ( as it still is in a dusty location and checked operation by blowing is both directions).
What is needed for this fuel tank breather check valve is an AIR DRIER and DUST FILTER to prevent the primary source of water vapor collecting in the fuel system which is such a hazard to the common rail diesels.
