  • Hi/Lo Gear Transfer Case

    Just took over my Dad's 1997 Prado 90 Auto Diesel 3.0 1KZ-TE, took it to my mech as the car has not been driven or even engine start for 2 yrs!
    After doing the normal oil changes Engine/Tranny/Diff/Transfer Case, my mech test drove the Prado but he found out that the car is stuck on Hi 4WD gear , jacked up the car on all 4s n he tested to put load on all 4 wheel (roughly rubbing his steel toe boots against each wheel) so we tot it might be the rear diff so we took it apart

    but everthing was in working conditions besides being dirty, so my mech suspected the Transfer case as he notice few drops of water even after changing the oil, so open we did

    tried to get replacement parts grom toyota n 1 component cost about A$590 so i ended getting a used Transfer case which will reach me from a neighbouring country for A$1047.79 inclu freight...not bad...cant wait to drive the Prado back too life again

      I did the same to mine a few years ago, I ended up getting a second hand one pulled it apart and cleaned it up and put it in
      75 Series Cruiser No More
      Replaced with a G6E Turbo
